September 23, 1931 – December 23, 2025
Leta Dene (Springer) Swatzell, 94, passed away on December 23, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born and raised in Hereford, Texas, Leta spent most of her adult life in Jacksonville, where she and her husband, Clyde Swatzell, raised their family.
A devoted wife and mother, Leta was a faithful Christian and a lifelong musician. She played the organ and piano throughout her life, sharing her gifts through her Lutheran church and with all who knew her.
She is survived by her sisters, Sue (Springer) Barbian and Twyla (Springer) Skov; her daughter, Denise (Swatzell) Kreis (James); her son, Jeff Swatzell; six grandchildren, John Kreis, Rachel (Marquardt) Hartrick, Abigail (Kreis) Baker, Ashley Swatzell, Amy Marquardt, and Mary (Kreis) Howard; and one great-grandchild, Walter Howard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Swatzell; her son, Mark Swatzell; her daughter, Lisa (Swatzell) Marquardt; her brother, Franklin Springer; and her sisters Gwyn (Springer) Wallace and Leah Springer.
A graveside service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30.
Services have been entrusted to Arlington Park Cemetery and Funeral Home.
