Obituary of Levie Blanton
Mr. Levie T. Blanton, 80, passed away on May 5, 2009. He was born to the late Mr. Melvin Blanton and Ms. Ida Mae Baucom on October 29, 1928 in Burgaw, NC. Mr. Blanton is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, in which he served during the Korean Conflict. He later went to work for CSX and retired after 38 years of dedicated work. He was also a member the Jacksonville Police Auxiliary and became a captain and retired from his duty there after 17 years. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 55 wonderful years, Mrs. Betty Scott Blanton; children, Rindy (Dan) Benson, Timothy (Tammy), and Barry (Janice) Blanton; grandchildren, Matthew (Karen), Eric, Michael (Jennifer), David (Tiffany), Laura, and Kyle; great grandchildren, Kaly, Connor, and soon to make his appearance, Garret; numerous nieces and nephews; brother, Melvin (Kathy) Blanton; sister, Eloise Badsgard; and many trusted friends. Family will receive friends, TONIGHT, May 7, 2009 from 5-8 pm at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida. His funeral service will be held, Friday, May 8, 2009 at 2:00 pm in Arlington Park Cemetery with Reverend Cecil Wiggins officiating. Mr. Blanton treasured his family and every day that he was given. He never met a stranger and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
