Lewis Evans Duffey, Sr. peacefully passed away of a prolonged illness at Community Hospice Alice and T. O'Neal Douglas Center at Baptist Medical Center on September 16th, 2023 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was 89, born on July 8th, 1934 in Galion, Ohio to Elsie Marie Duffey (Beener) and Orin Kenneth Duffey.

Lewis "Duff" lived a full life surrounded by generations of family. He was a self taught man and if he saw something of interest he would learn that trade to perfection. He left Mansfield as a young man and joined the United States Navy; he served in the Korean war. When he returned from the Philippines and ended his Naval career he went into the Air National Guard for a tour. Duff took his love of the water to boating with his young family; we all enjoyed the water every weekend. As his trade he was an electrician; he retired from Metal Container Corporation. He loved retirement; he loved to catch alligators with the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, He also volunteered in the Marine Patrol and was an Auxiliary Lieutenant Colonel in the Coast Guard. He taught Florida's Hunter Safety Hunter Courses around Florida, He enjoyed being a Shriner, and a Free Mason; he was 33rd Degree.

On June 23rd, 1956 Lewis married Marilyn Kurry. Duff loved talking about their first meeting at a dance hall in Ohio. He had been planning on going back into the Navy but once he met Marilyn that dream was over he had a new one to make her his wife. They built their first home in Mansfield where they would go on to raise their four children. In June of 1970 they moved to Dunedin, Florida and seven years later set their roots in Jacksonville.

Lewis Evans Duffey Sr. was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years this past January 2023, their son Lewis Evans Duffey Jr., his parents; Elsie Marie and Orin Kenneth Duffey, his brother Frederic Orin and sister Janice Lorraine Mills (Duffey). Lewis leaves behind his loving daughters, Debra Lynn Jones, Diane Louise Paruolo (Vincent), and Danette Loreen Higgins (Marty); his grandchildren, Susan Marie Van Bibber (Mike), Kristen Michelle Palau, Michelle Diane Williams, Michael Alan Clement, Zachary Daniel Harriz, Zane Jeffery Morgan (Francisco), and Zara Elizabeth Christoff (Tyler); and his great grandchildren, Hanna Marie Van Bibber, Alyssa Lynn Jones, Jake Edward Van Bibber, Makenna Briann Means, Noah Madden DiMare, Alexa Grace Palau and Asher Odell Palau.
