Obituary of Lillian Purcell
Lillian Juanita Purcell, 96, of Jacksonville, FL passed away Monday, January 26, 2015. Born December 11, 1918 in Hillard, FL, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Juanita Thomas. She was one of 13 children. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Purcell who passed away in 1997. And also her son Barry who passed away in 1959. Lillian is survived by her son, Michael Purcell, and her daughter Joyce Horne and her husband Steve. She also is survived by 3 grandchildren, Kelly Sablowski, Tracy Purcell and Michael Purcell Jr. and 3 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan and Tyler. Also, she is survived by her beloved niece Lucille Cooke. Lillian and Clifton were married and raised their family in Jacksonville, FL where she was active in the community as a longtime member of the Arlington Baptist Church and the Arlington Woman's Club. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing Bridge. In her retirement, she travelled the world extensively, including China, Japan, Europe, Alaska and many places in the United States. This was her passion and she inspired a love of travel in her family. A private graveside burial was held 12pm Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211, with Reverend Carol Lavery officiating.
