Linda Clara Youmans, age 77, daughter of William and Lucille Bradshaw, who was born, October 6, 1940 in Jacksonville, Florida passed away November 2, 2017 at St. Catherine Laboure Manor - Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida.
A lifelong resident of Jacksonville and a 1959 graduate of Englewood High School, Linda Youmans retired from the Relizon Company in 2003. She devoted much of her life to the care and nurturing of others. She was appreciated for her warmth, quick smile, her ease with laughter and a quiet inner strength and resolve. She loved children and over her lifetime found ways to tend not only to her three daughters and five grandchildren, but to other children as well. She started the first Brownie troop at Brookview Elementary and was its leader for a number of years and volunteered in other ways with the Girl Scouts of America organization. She taught Sunday school and volunteered for numerous Vacation Bible Schools and in her church's after-school Logos program. Additionally through her church, Highlands United Presbyterian, she was a longtime member of its choir and also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
As a caregiver, she devoted twelve years of tender support to her husband when he became disabled with a chronic illness. Her resilience and the love she showed for him during that time is one of the truest examples of her strength and character, as was the grace she exhibited when dealing with the fourteen-year-long illness Lewy Body Dementia that eventually ended her life.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, G.B. Youmans, Jr.
She is survived by her three daughters, all of Jacksonville, Lori Booth, Cheri Oehser and Teri Grimm; son-in laws Mike Booth, John Oehser and Chad Grimm; five grandchildren, Kristen Booth, Joel Booth, Jacob Oehser, Gibson Grimm and Carson Grimm; sister, Martha Moncrief and niece, Lynn Wyche.
