Obituary of Lois Holland
HOLLAND Lois Holland, 85, passed away at home in Jacksonville, FL on Thursday, March 25, 2010 after a lengthy battle with pulmonary complications. She was born to Benjamin and Pattie Harris on August 9, 1924 in Drewryville, VA. She grew up in Virginia and North Carolina. She worked at an independent telephone company in Tarboro, NC until 1952 when she married Harvey Holland on May 4, 1952. She joined Harvey in Ft. Meyers, FL soon after their marriage. They later lived in Lakeland, FL before settling in Jacksonville, FL in 1961. She retired from the Duval County School System in 1985. She was a long time member of Arlington United Methodist Church where she volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Harvey Holland; daughter Nancy Holland Wixom (Steven) of Murray, UT; son Hank Holland (Jessica); grandsons Noah and Cole of Jacksonville, FL; and sister Mrs. Will B. Pittman of New Bern, NC. The family will receive friends at their home Tuesday, March 30, 2010 from 6-8pm. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Arlington United Methodist Church, 1400 University Blvd. N. in Jacksonville, FL.
