Obituary

Lorraine Doretta Ivey, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 25,2020. She was born on
December 2, 1932 to Frank and Roseanna Zwisler of New York. She eventually made her way to
Jacksonville, Florida where she resided in the same house for 60 years. She met and married the
love of her life, Chuck Ivey. Lorraine held various jobs during her working years but genuinely
enjoyed her time with Chuck best, when they were both retired.
Lorraine was a long standing and active member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Jacksonville.
There she participated in the Alter Guild, Hope Circle and Share-a-Skill. She helped with seniors and
visited nursing homes with gifts that were made in Hope Circle. Lorraine made several lifelong
church friendships. She continued to meet with her church friends for lunch once a month, even after
she moved to St. Augustine.
When the time came for Lorraine to no longer live alone, she moved to St. Augustine to live with her
niece Judy and her family. She eventually moved to Bayview Assisted Living where she lived until
her passing. Lorraine loved Bayview and its staff, and they loved her. She made good friends,
enjoyed many activities and played a mean game of Bingo! She will be missed.
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, her husband Chuck, her son Robert, her sister Jan and
brother-in-law Ken.
Lorraine is survived and missed by her sons Wayne (Linda) and Garry and daughter-in-law Candy;
Grandchildren, Jason, Robert, Garry (Michelle), Chris, Charles, Brandy and Adam; Great-grandchildren, Tyler,
Devyn, Caleb, Kiley, Jasmine, and Jacob; Nieces Judy (Larry, Ashley and Nicole), Lynn (Michael
and Jenny) and Michele (Danny and Joshua).
The family would like to thank Lorraine's Bayview "family", George, Stephanie, Julie and especially
Theresa! Even with all of Lorraine's medical problems they made her life so much better and we love
them all!
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Arlington Park Funeral Home.

God looked around his garden
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.

He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering,
He knew that you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So, He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, "Peace be thine."

It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone…

For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
