Louease (MamaEase) M. Turner, 93, passed away peacefully on October 20, at Community Hospice Baptist South in Jacksonville, FL.
Born on January 1, 1929, in Yocona, MS, Louease was the daughter of Jesse Moore and Ada Bray Moore Cagle. She graduated from Yocona High School as class Salutatorian. She is preceded in death by her three brothers, Bill Moore, Boyce Cagle, and Archie Cagle.
She was the widow of Ed Turner, Sr., having shared nearly 50 years of marriage. Ed and Louease moved to Jacksonville in 1955 where they settled and were actively involved in the community, including Morocco Temple, Southside Women's Club and their children's schools. Louease worked more than 40 years for State Farm Insurance, fully retiring from the agency in 2009.
Louease was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church and enjoyed working with the Shoebox/Christmas Child Ministry and Bible School. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and lived her beliefs daily.
She is survived by her children, Connie Skinner (Cecil) and Ed Turner, Jr. (Billie Ann); three grandsons, Carson Skinner (Amanda), Ed Turner, III (Christy) and Samual Turner; five great grandchildren, Zoe Turner, Jonah Turner, Averie Turner, Cecilia Skinner and Ellis Louease Skinner; as well as three sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Louease will be remembered for her dignity and grace. She maintained her independence fiercely and was always first with a helping hand. She is our beloved Mama, Mom-in-Love, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. She taught us the value of service to others. She taught us that there is strength in relying on God, and that acceptance and forgiveness should always be given. She was a true inspiration and a kind and gentle soul.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 28, at Parkwood Baptist Church, 7900 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211 - Visitation to receive family and friends will be at 10:30 AM with light refreshments. The memorial service will follow at 11:15 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkwood Baptist Church at www.pbcjax.org (designated to the Building Campaign or the Shoebox Ministry) or to Community Hospice at www.communityhospice.com/give/
