Obituary of Louise Walker

Judge Louise Walker, 86, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010.

A loving wife and mother, Louise lived a very accomplished life. She lived the life of a christian wife and mother, supporting her husband and son in every aspect of life. She was always a prominent member of her community and active in social and church activities. Judge Walker worked outside the home during most of her adult life and yet found the time to continually invest herself in glorifying God, nurturing her family, and encouraging all those who were fortunate enough to have known her personally. When, at mid life, she was presented the opportunity to become a County Court Judge, she approached it as with everything else in her life; with dedication, determination, and grace. In accomplishing this, Judge Louise Walker became the first sitting female judge for the State of Florida serving in Duval County. As a judge, Louise had the opportunity to touch many lives. All those with whom she dealt, from the most needy to the most powerful, left her presence feeling his or her life had more meaning and purpose. In recent years, Louise would still receive correspondence from those she prosecuted telling her how much of a difference she made in their lives. She truly did let her light shine

Judge Louise is survived by her sister Bette Harlow; son and daughter-in-law Rod and Pat Walker; grandson Howard B. Walter, II "How"; nieces and nephews Carole Anne and Steve Burnes, Debbie and Richard Moran, Michael and Phyllis Harlow, Mark and Carol Harlow and Billy and Sadie Davis.

The Walker Family will welcome family and friends at Arlington Park Funeral Home on Thursday evening May 27, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. The Homegoing Celebration for Judge Louise will take place in the chapel of Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Louise's son Rod officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery where Louise will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Howard.
