Obituary of Louise White
Louise Doherty White, 100, of Jacksonville went home to be with the Lord on January 2, 2016. She was born in Jacksonville on January 16, 1915 to Arthur and Florence Doherty.
Mrs. White was a 1933 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School. She married Ernest White on November 7, 1936. She was employed by Western Auto as an Executive Secretary for 20 years. At her retirement in 1977, her boss described her as a "truly genteel lady".
Mrs. White was faithful serving her church, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church. Her hobbies included traveling, painting, and she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a devoted wife (70 years) and mother, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Tompkins (Ed) and Edith "Eydie" Johnson (Vic): 6 grandchildren, Eddie, Gregory (Carol), Amy (Eric), Jamie (Kathleen), Ryan and Skye (Chris): 6 great-grandchildren, Kara (Lorenzo), Jared, Tyler, Judson, Nori and Bradley: and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Paul's Methodist Church, 8264 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211.
