Mrs. Lucy Mae Cullingford, age 78, of Staley, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025. She was surrounded by the love of her family and left behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and cherished memories.

Born on June 27, 1946, in Staley, Lucy was the daughter of the late Winfred and Vallee (Smith) Cullingford. She grew up in a close-knit community, and her roots in Staley remained strong throughout her life. In 1969, she married the love of her life, Robert Cullingford, and together they shared 55 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion.

Lucy was known for her radiant smile, her warmth, and her infectious spirit. She had a zest for life that was unmatched, always finding joy in the little things. A lover of yard sales, Lucy had a keen eye for treasures, and she loved the thrill of finding something special at a bargain. She was also passionate about working in her yard, spending countless hours tending to her flowers.

Before her retirement, Lucy was a dedicated team member at Pioneer Plastics, where she worked for many years. Her work ethic and friendly nature made her a beloved colleague, and she always took pride in doing her job well.

Lucy had a famous saying, "Take a quarter for it," that she would often share when offering advice or making light of a situation. Her unique sense of humor and wise words will be remembered by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, Robert, Lucy is survived by her children, Tammy, Terri and Robert Jr.; her grandchildren, Wayne, John, Erica, Maggie, and Shelby; one great-grand child; her sisters, Mary, Lu Ella, and Denise; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Emily.

A graveside service for Mrs. Lucy's will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, @11:00 at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211.

Lucy Mae Cullingford's kindness, sense of humor, and love for her family will be deeply missed. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will forever be remembered for her laughter, her love, and her famous "Take a quarter for it." Rest in peace, Lucy. You were truly one of a kind.
