IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lyn
Schneider
March 7, 1931 – January 9, 2021
Lyn Philip Schneider, son of Lloyd Schneider and Gertrude LeMere Schneider, was born on March 7, 1931 in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin. He was the second oldest of four children. He attended Gibraltar High School.
Lyn met his loving wife, Beulah Mae Minton Schneider, at a Jones College square dance at Ortega Pier in Jacksonville, Florida in July of 1952. He says he fell in love with her red hair as soon as he saw her. They were married in Brunswick, Georgia on August 22, 1953 and were happily married for 67 wonderful years.
His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: son, Robert Lloyd Schneider and wife Dana Schneider and daughter, Brenda Lynn Boucher; Grandchildren: Robert Paul Schneider, Blane Philip Schneider, Ravenna Schneider Mathison, Jen Roberts, and Jamie Tietjen (Justin); Great Grandchildren: Makayla Renee Schneider, Kira Nicole Schneider, Henry Scavo, Greta Scavo, Amelia Mae Mathison, and Gavin Findlay Mathison. His life will also be remembered by his niece Saundra Derr as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lyn served in the Navy for 4 years during the Korean War, 1951-1955. He worked at Prudential Life Insurance company as a manager of employment and retired after 32 years.
He enjoyed sports throughout his life and played football in high school. Lyn had his nose broken while playing, and enjoyed retelling that story to anyone who would listen. He was a life long, loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers and later became a loyal fan and season ticket holder for his Jacksonville Jaguars. Lyn and his son, Lloyd, were able to fulfill a dream and attend a football game at Lambeau Field when the Jacksonville Jaguars played against the Green Bay Packers in October 2012. He enjoyed golf all his life and was able to play the game with his family and friends frequently, even into his 80s. He enjoyed many card games and passed on the love of cards to his family, who still play weekly. He grew up playing cribbage and taught his children and grandchildren the game.
Lyn was well known as a jokester in the family, and friends and family alike called him Papa. Cartoons and comics were called "the educationals" and was a family event. He would always offer "a punch in the nose" within the list of dinner options to make his kids giggle. The love that he and Beulah shared was monumental, even after 67 years of marriage, he would pat her bottom every time she walked by. His legacy of living life with a heart full of love and laughter has been passed on through his family, and will continue to be honored and enjoyed in his memory.
