Margaret (Peggy) Deleo Urbanek, 94, of Jacksonville, FL passed away peacefully Thursday, June 17, 2021 with her son by her side. She was born May 30, 1927 in Everett, MA to the late Catherine T. Conroy Deleo and Thomas A. Deleo, Sr.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Edward A. Urbanek; her beloved daughter, Judi A. Lawhorn; her brother, Thomas A. Deleo, Jr.; and her sister, Frances E. Crocker. Peggy leaves to cherish her memory, 1 son Larry Urbanek (Monica); 3 granddaughters, Kelli Urbanek of Jacksonville, Michelle Ellis (Jonathon) of Jacksonville, and Tikisha Walsh (Andy) of Sherman Oaks, CA; 1 great grandson Brandon Ellis; several nieces and nephews; and numerous adoring friends. Peggy grew up in Everett, MA, then lived in Connecticut. She also resided in Sarasota, FL and Princeton Junction, NJ before moving to Jacksonville, FL in 1973.
She worked for the Social Security Administration for decades before retiring in 2008. She was dedicated to public service and enjoyed the people with whom she worked. She was guided by her faith in God and was a long time parishioner of Christ The King Catholic Church. She was heavily involved in her granddaughter's lives and will be remembered as a person with a big heart who dearly loved her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all. May loving memories of her be a solace to those who knew her.
Her family is in appreciation of all the support provided by her loving friend, Bonnie Swisher, and her caregivers at Brooks Rehabilitation-University Crossing.
