Margie Hartzog peacefully entered the presence of God on Saturday, September 23, 2017. She was 95. Born in Alabama and residing in Jacksonville since 1945, Margie was a typical woman of her generation. She was a stay-at-home wife and mother, doting on her husband, children, and grandchild. She had a big heart and exuded empathy and compassion to anyone who needed encouragement. A gifted conversationalist, her sparkling wit and humor entertained everyone she encountered. To her family, she was a rare treasure, always offering boundless love and support in every situation. Margie's Christian faith sustained her throughout her life. In her later years when she could no longer attend church, she was inspired by Dr. Charles Stanley's "In Touch" weekly sermons. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years Sammie Hartzog, the love of her life, and her grandson Eric Ray whom she had a special bond. She leaves behind her son Gary (Pat); her daughter Sharon; her sister Iva Lee Hewett, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margie's family will receive friend's graveside for fellowship beginning at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2017. A Graveside Blessing will begin 11AM at Arlington Park Cemetery with Dr. Dan McLean officiating. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Arlington Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211. (904) 724-6384.
