Maria Hilaria Lopes, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on April 24, 2019.  She was 94.  Maria was born on December 30, 1924 in Saint Vincent, Cape Verde Island, the daughter of Tomas and Francisca (Fortes) Gomes.

Maria immigrated to Brazil in 1956 and then to the USA in 1970.  She was a homemaker and factory worker in New Haven, Connecticut.  In November 2008, she moved to Jacksonville.

Maria is survived by her children; Alcinda Quiroa of Port Chester, NY, Adriano (Teresinha) Lopes of Orlando, Florida, Joana Lopes of Jacksonville, Florida, Fernando Lopes of Orlando, Florida, Herondina (Curtis) Schell of Jacksonville, Florida, Nelson Lopes of Jacksonville, Florida; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; nephew Nelson Gomes and niece Carla Gomes.

Maria is predeceased by her husband Feliciano and her daughter Esperanza Lopes.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday April 29, 2019 at the Arlington Park Funeral Home.  Maria's family will be greeting guests for visitation beginning at 10:00 am.  Elder Adriano F. Lopes will be officiating.  Interment will be in the Arlington Park Cemetery following the funeral service.
