Obituary of Marian Loughran

In Loving Memory of our Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Marian J Smith Loughran. Marian died on September 26, 2014 in her home at Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Marian was born on March 9, 1930 in Zeigler, Illinois. She was the first person in her family to attend college; graduating from Southern Illinois University. She married Alfred P. Loughran in 1951. Marian raised four children while pursuing her own career. She was a devoted teacher and was highly sought as a private tutor. She taught at Christ the King, Jacksonville Country Day and FCCJ. She encouraged and helped her children achieve their dreams with all four graduating from college. Marian was preceded in death by her husband after 38 years of marriage. Marian is survived by her four children - DeLene, John, Myra and Cassandra. She was the proud grandmother of Laura, Mary, Maureen, Colleen, Megan, Amber and Thomas and her step-grandchildren Ben and Liz. Marian was blessed with great grandchildren: Laura's Abigail and Jack, Mary's son Rex, and Ben's boys Grady and Gunnar. The viewing and Rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Arlington Park Funeral home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211. The funeral will be conducted at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Expressway Service Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211, on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Arlington Park Cemetery.
