Marizel Manalo, 61, passed away surrounded by loved ones on August 28, 2022 after a 5 year battle with multiple myeloma cancer.
Marizel was born on April 15, 1961 to Leonardo and Zenaida Lupa in Naic-Cavite, Philippines. After graduating from Notre Dame High School in Talofofo, Guam in 1979, she went on to study at Fairleigh Dickinson University and nursing at the Union County College, New Jersey.
In 1986 Marizel met Bernie Manalo in Virginia Beach, Virginia. They immediately hit it off and married in 1988. Marizel and Bernie moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1991.
After graduating, Marizel landed her first job as a nurse for Elizabeth General Hospital in New Jersey and worked for 2 years before moving to Jacksonville, Florida. She continued her nursing career St. Vincent Hospital formerly known as Riverside Hospital where she would work for over 20 years as a neonatal nurse. In 2017, God called her to continue her talents at the Children's Medical Services of Jacksonville, Florida, where she was a registered nurse specialist.
Marizel was an active member of the Cavite Association of Jacksonville, Florida since 1996 and a former president of the Cavite Association in 2016-2018. Marizel was passionate about connecting with different organizations in Jacksonville, Florida.
Marizel was predeceased by her mother, Zenaida Lupa, brother, Edgar Lupa. She is survived by her husband, Bernie Manalo; and her two children, Mariel Lopez and Bernie Manalo Jr.
