Martha Faye
Beether
Jun 8, 1940 — May 4, 2019
Jacksonville
Martha (Marty) peacefully passed at home on May 4, 2019, with her family by her side.
After raising her children and working Real Estate for many years, Marty became a full time college student. She graduated National Honor Society. Her quest for knowledge continued after graduation. She continued to take classes until her mid 70's.
She recently retired from both Walmart (Community Service Representative) and the college, Florida State College of Jacksonville, where she worked in the Wilson Center Art Gallery.
She never met a stranger. She did quite a bit of volunteering in the community and also with the Beaches Honor Guard. She truly believed in random acts of kindness and shared this philosophy with her children and grandchildren.
Marty had a life long passion for the arts. From her amazing paintings to her award winning writings, she took pride in taking her grandchildren to plays and concerts.
In recent years she had been teaching Sunday School at Mayport Presbyterian Church. Marty shared her spirituality with her kind heart.
Marty is predeceased by her four brothers; Weldon, Lewis, Raymon (Poland), Michael Carter, and her two grandsons; Brad Smith Jr. and Daniel Lee Ray.
Marty leaves behind her sister, Gloria Smith (Bill); her children, Rebecca Ray, William Beether (Betty), Susan Fritton, Goddaughter Robin Stevenson; two Grandchildren, Eric Beether and Ashley Hollingsworth (Michael), and the blessing of five wonderful great-grandchildren.
Marty's family will be holding a memorial service along with a celebration of her life on her birthday (June 8, 2019). This is being held at the Mayport Presbyterian Church, at 11:00 am. The address is 1300 Palmer Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32233. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perform a random act of kindness in Marty's memory.
