Obituary of Marvin Green

Marvin C. Green, Jr., 80, passed from this life into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on February 5, 2011. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 13, 1930 to Marvin C. and Vesta Yawn Green. A veteran of the U.S. Army, 11 Airborne Division, 187th Regimental Combat Teams, having served in combat during the Korean Conflict. He was a brewing supervisor at Anheuser Busch, retiring in 1988. A former Cub Scout Master of packs 265, 325; and Scoutmaster of troop 325. A life member of VFW Post 9667, serving as their Quartermaster for several years. Mr. Green was also a former member of American Legion Post 283 and a member of Rakkasans, 187th Airborne Regimental Combat team association and a member of the former Golden Rockers chapter of the National Campers and Hikers Assoc. A Christian, an ordained deacon and elder and a student of the bible. His greatest joy was his family. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Betty; beloved sons, Marvin C. Green III, Michael Lee Green (Kristi), Christopher Philip Green; a loving daughter, Kelly Green Carter (Michael); five precious granddaughters, Abbey Bethencourt (Tony), Amber Green; Katelyn, Kortney, and Krystal Carter; a brother in law, Harry Phillips (Yoshiko), two sisters in law, Sandra Phillips, Doris Green, and Evelyn Green; a number of nieces and nephews; caregivers, Angela Kelly and Wanda Graham and many friends. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 6-800pm at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Greens' funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the funeral home at 11:00am, with Harry Phillips officiating.
