Mary Lew Esdale of Jacksonville, FL died peacefully at St. Vincent's Medical Center Riverside on February 6, 2016 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Born Mary Lewis Sullivan on August 17, 1934 in Dobbs Ferry, New York, Mary Lew is survived by her son William David Esdale and his wife Danita Nicholas Esdale; daughter Susan Kathleen Esdale Perot and her husband Edward (Tim) S. Perot IV; son Peter Anderton Esdale and his wife Cheryl Anita Esdale; and her five grandchildren, Nicholas William Lewis Esdale, Morgan Kathleen Elizabeth Littlejohn, Paul Anderton Esdale, Sabrina Susan Esdale, and Makita Cheryl Esdale. She is also survived by her brother Charles Anderton Sullivan and his wife Henrietta Sullivan and their children and grandchildren. Mary Lew was the loving wife of 40 years of the late William Joseph Esdale, Jr., and the daughter of the late Kathleen Anderton McCutchen and the late Charles James Sullivan.
Mary Lew was a devoted and cherished daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many and a true force of nature in her community. She was an accomplished professional floral designer and beloved active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, American Cancer Society, The Woman's Board, and Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens.
Services for Mary Lew will be held on Friday, February 26 at 10:00 a.m., St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 4129 Oxford Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32210. A reception will follow from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at Club Continental, 2143 Astor Street, Orange Park, FL 32073. Her burial will be held Saturday, February 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Crestlawn Cemetery, 1216 14th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
