Obituary of Mary Rocca
Mary Louise Smith Rocca, 75, went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2009. Mrs. Rocca was born on Valentine's Day, 1934 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She came to Jacksonville in 1954.
Mary's most rewarding job was working for Catholic Charities Emergency Assistance Department from where she retired in 2005. She was the chairman for the inaugural Catholic Charities Ball. Mary was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, The K-Cees- women's auxiliary for the Knights of Columbus Council 4727, and the Red Hat Society. Mary was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, worker and friend. She had the voice of an angel and was very spirit filled.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband of 36 years, Gino; Son Keith Rocca (Marilyn); Daughters Linda Gaster (wife of deceased son BG), Lois Steele (Danny), Claudia Osteen (Wayne Hanby), Kenetha Holder (Michael) and Regina Rocca (Scott Clements); 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 5 siblings and several additional family members and many friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery. Immediately following there will be a reception at Christ the King Parish Hall. The family will receive friends tonight, Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 6-8pm with a Rosary at 6:30 in the chapel of Arlington Park Funeral Home. Flowers and donations to Hospice will be welcomed.
