Obituary of Mary Ward

Mary Bendey Ward "Mickey", 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving daughters and grandchildren on June 6, 2013: she was born December 14, 1922. As a young girl, she joined the United States Marine Corps during World War II and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Marine Corps she met and married 1st Lieutenant George W. Ward, and in 1956 they moved to Jacksonville, Florida and began a wonderful life together. The two of them spent fifty wonderful years together before George passed away in 1994. Mickey played tennis, golf and was a loyal bingo player at the Arlington Lions Club for thirty years. She is survived by two sisters Betty King, Petrina Worsham; daughters Laura (David) Sheffield, Janice (Roy) Mixon, Diane (Tommy) Kryszczuk; grandsons Erich (Melissa), Randy, Travis (Brittany); great-granddaughter Krysta. We feel blessed to have had Mickey as our mother and grandmother and we will miss you forever, rest in peace lovely one. Family will receive friends at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, for a graveside service on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 10:30am.
