Obituary of Mary Wood

Mary Elois (Tarte) Wood passed away Easter morning, March 23, 2008. She was born December 16, 1928 in Whitmire , South Carolina . She graduated from Andrew Jackson Senior High School in 1947 and went on to graduate from the Atlanta Art Institute in Atlanta , Georgia with her Masters degree. She married Edward F. Wood August 31, 1957. They have resided in the Jacksonville area since 1973. She is predeceased by her father, Patrick Eason Tarte, her mother, Sally May ( Rogers ) Tarte, her brother, Patrick Eason Tarte, Jr., her brother, Alden Tarte, her sister, Justine (Tarte) Hearn, and her sister, Ruby (Tarte) Cannon. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Edward F. Wood, their daughter, Tonya E. Wood, her brother, Robert L. Tarte (Terry), her sister, Nora Ellen (Tarte) Mullins, and her sister, Telatha (Tarte) Savinski (Stanley), and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she was an inspiration through her volunteer efforts.
