Obituary of Mauritz Anderson

Mauritz (Andy) Robert Anderson, 86, of Windermere Dr. in Jacksonville, FL passed away after a short illness on August 25, 2012 at the Bailey Center Community Hospice in St. Augustine, FL. He was born in Manistique, MI to Oscar and Tekela (Johnson) Anderson and attended Manistique area schools. He served in the US Air Force during WW II as did three of his four brothers. He married Sally Elaine Ansell of Garden, MI on July 10, 1948. In 1953 they moved to Florida, where he lived the rest of his life. Andy enjoyed playing golf, bowling, deep sea fishing, hunting as well as singing and playing guitar. He was a man of many talents and sharp competitive spirit. He worked in the newspaper business most all of his life and retired from the Florida Times Union in Jacksonville. Andy is survived by his daughter, Karen Parks of Bellaire, MI; brothers, Everette Anderson of West Bend, WI, Birger Anderson of Tallahassee, FL; sister Linea Melius of Slinger, WI; three grandsons, Justin and Joshua Parks and Derek Snevel as well as four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Sally; daughter Kim and two brothers, Roy and Vern.
