Mauro Antonio Techera, age 64, son of Hector Antonio and Anita Masullo Techera was born, November 26, 1951 in Montevideo, Uruguay passed away February 22, 2016 at his home in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mauro was proud to be a Uruguayan, proud of his strong Latino Charrua native South American roots and also proud to be an American. He loved his "futbol" "Suarez" "Messi" soccer stars and games, the all-stars and the stars. He watched and is will always be watching over his children and family supporting them as their biggest fan, especially lately seeing his grandchildren Sarenity, Joey and Jessenia at their games and graduations as they reach their goals with his support as he did his. He loved hunting, fishing, and being in nature teaching us about the web of life, survival of the fittest and numerous nature and other stories and jokes he would retell over and over again even if you already heard it, whispering and laughing every time. He was a hardworking, ethical, and caring man with a strong opinion and would let you know it. He loved making his "chimichuri," even though the habaneros made him cry, He also would cook up the occasional surprise of pigs in the blanket and was the master of asado a la parilla. He had an amazing eye for detail, was creative, innovative, artistic and a master at any task that he tackled. He always offered words of wisdom with yellow stickies plastered all over the refrigerator and house to remind us - quotes from Bugs Bunny to Socrates to Joel Osteen to Elvis the King. He often referred to himself as "The King" and he was in our eyes. The king of many things, one of those things being an excellent drummer, guitarist with a great musical side, even if it was country music, to the Tango to the Beatles, to jazz, to "Don't Worry be Happy" he would bop around and drum around with his large green froggy eyes and big smile. "Integrity" was what he preached and lived by in any project he did, saying to his girls and others things like "Church is every day, not just Sunday," "God is my doctor," "Be Happy, Eat Dinosaur," "Put it down in black and white," "Your word is all you have, keep it true," "If I can't find a way, I make one." "Never judge a man, until you walk a mile in his moccasins." He always worked tirelessly, quite meticulously at that, working very hard for his family, coming to the United States from Uruguay at the young age of 18, with his wife, and only a suitcase and $500 to provide his family with the American Dream. He worked 3 jobs, learned the language and instilled the foundation in us all that hard work, endurance, creativity and the passion to follow your dreams is what you need to do to make it happen. We miss you daddy. He is loved and will be missed by many, but he lives on in spirit and is always in our hearts - "Siempre en nuestros corazones!".

Mauro was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Masullo and father Hector Techera.

He is survived by; Maria C. Techera, mother to Jeannie Techera Roggio, Patricia Techera Cruz, and Andrea Techera Gill, grandchildren Sarenity Celeste Techera,
Joseph David Roggio, and Jessenia Noel Roggio, his brothers Gabriel, Alejandro, and Daniel Techera and much extended family that he loved very much.

A Celebration of Life will begin 10:00 AM, Friday, March 4, 2016, Graveside at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211 with Pastor Acie Sanders of Arlington Church of Christ officiating.
