Mike's Obituary

James Michael Dupes (Mike), 69, passed away after a long illness on January 31, 2022 in Jacksonville, FL. Mike was born in Jacksonville on May 6, 1952, to James Leonard Dupes and Barbara Powers Dupes. He is survived by his wife Lynda Landrum Dupes, his son Christopher Douglas Dupes (Ieshia), his father James Leonard Dupes (Elizabeth), his brother Mark Dupes (Linda), his sisters Marsha Ross (Pascal), Michele Hampton (Steve), and Maureen Young (J.R.), granddaughters Kearstin, Alyssa, and Ashley, four great-granddaughters, and four nieces and nephews.
Mike spent his working career as a Biologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville, after completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Florida Atlantic University in 1975. He has enjoyed retirement since 2007. Mike and Lynda met while both working at the Army Corps of Engineers office in downtown Jacksonville. They were married on September 1, 1979, in the court yard of the Garden Club in Riverside and spent 42 happy years together.

Mike was a kind, compassionate, and thoughtful man. He was a good mentor to several coworkers during his career as a Biologist. He was a loving and very supportive husband and father. His interests included scuba diving, travel, nature, and woodworking. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either the American Cancer Society or the Hospice Foundation.
