Obituary of Mildred Flowers
Mildred Cooper Flowers, 91 of Jacksonville, Florida passed into eternal peace on Monday, May 13, 2013. She was born in Choctaw County, Alabama on January 15, 1922 to the late Luther Martin Cooper (Luke) and Jennie Ann Long Cooper. She was the youngest surviving child of six and was fondly referred to as "Mitchie". She graduated in 1940 from high school in Butler, Alabama, and continued with college in Montgomery, Alabama where she married Merwin Lafayette Flowers who preceded her in death in 1983. Mildred was a very giving and loving mother and grandmother, always putting others needs before her own, but above all, she treasured her precious children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was dedicated to her family, a true southern lady, who was comfortable amongst the elite of business and social world or those who may be less fortunate and in need. She grew up knowing The Lord and savior at a very early age and taught Sunday School as a youth in her hometown. She was a member of Fort Caroline Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida. Surviving are her four children, Charles Merwin Flowers (Billie), Patricia Ann Motley (Warren), Timothy Cooper Flowers (Janice), and Karyn Maria Hayno Steele; her eight grandchildren, Patience Linne Williamson, (Gene), Jeffrey Scott Flowers (Heather), Kelly Lynn Harp (Bradley), Jessica Kathleen Wiggins, Crystal Maria Flowers, Alexandra Nicole Steele, Jonathan Luke Steele, and Sydney Renee Steele; and her seven great grandchildren, Tyler Williamson, Chase Williamson, Jade Flowers, Zoe Flowers, Kyle Wiggins, Autumn Wiggins, and Anders Toftoy. Family will recieve friends on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, for a visitaion in the funeral home Chapel and a funeral service on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 2:00pm.
