Obituary of Mildred Stalvey

Reflections of Life

Mildred Berg Stalvey, 86, was born April 1, 1929 in St. Augustine, FL to the late Joseph E. Berg and Ala May Jaillette. Mildred was baptized in her early youth at the Ancient City Baptist Church and graduated in 1947 from Ketterlinus High School and voted most likely to succeed. She resided with her parents and worked at the local bank prior to her marriage in October 21, 1950 to the late Clyde H. Stalvey. The newly married couple settled in Jacksonville where they became proud parents of Rebecca Lynn on September 2, 1955 and Phillip Clyde on July 5, 1957. Following membership at North Jacksonville Baptist Church, in 1957 they became charter members of Parkwood Baptist Church in the new and growing area of Arlington. After her husband passed away on May 6, 1979, she relocated to Orlando, FL in 1981 to be near her daughter and two sisters: Mary Ballinger and Evelyn Juanita Kirby. Mildred then joined the First Baptist Church of Pine Castle and spent her retirement years active in church and enjoying her children and grandchildren Jennifer Brooke Hooper, David Brooks Hooper and Benjamin Phillip Stalvey. Mildred in 2002, entered the Westchester of Winter Park ALF and in 2012 Regents Park of Winter Park SNF.

Mildred's life can truly be defined by her very personal relationship with God and her faith which never wavered and tried later in her life to complete an autobiography named, "My God and I." From the beginning, she dedicated her marriage and children to God and always led by example in every way. Mildred never met a stranger, greeting everyone with a smile. Her extraordinary kindness and pure heart was seen by all. She believed her entire life was answered prayer, and remarkably, never feared death even at the end. Mildred had no earthly regrets and knew in her heart she would now be with her God in heaven.

Mildred leaves to cherish her memory daughter Rebecca L. Hooper of Casselberry, FL, son Phillip C. Stalvey of New Port Richey, FL, sisters Evelyn Juanita Kirby, Marian Espey, Mary Ballinger, son-in-law Daniel B. Hooper, grandchildren Jennifer B. Hooper, David B. Hooper and Benjamin Phillip Stalvey.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2PM, Thursday, April 16, 2015 in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Manny Keyser officiating. The family will receive friends for a Visitation Gathering one hour prior to the service.
