Mildred O. Schlicht, 89, of High Springs, FL, passed away at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital on August 21, 2026 due to natural causes. Mildred was born in Nashville, GA to John and Mary Odom. She was one of ten siblings: Vera, Rayford, Elwood, Hazel, Lamar, Jeanette, Melba, Evelyn, and Margie. Mildred married Fred Schlicht on February 12,1955 and was married till the passing of Fred on October 14, 2014. Mildred and Fred had three children: Cindy Robinson Sapp (Randy Robinson passed in 2010, Ray Sapp passed in 2018), Marty Schlicht (Brandi Schlicht), and Beth Fischer (Jeff Fischer). Mildred had five grandchildren: Courtney Robinson, AJ Schlicht (Brooke), Shelby Schlicht, Lindsey Fischer (Bre Fischer), and Matthew Fischer (Allen Davis). She has four great-grandchildren with a fifth on the way.
Mildred grew up in Nashville, GA, where her family was part of the farming community. She was introduced to Fred through her sister Melba and her husband Ken, who was in the Navy and friends with Fred. After they got married, Mildred and Fred moved to New Jersey for a few years. In that time, they had their first daughter, Cindy. Eventually, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida, and had their other two children. Mildred was a homemaker and served her church, St. Paul’s Methodist Church, faithfully. Mildred spent many years on a bowling league and playing Bridge with her closest friends. She was a remarkable mother and grandmother to all.
Mildred is preceded in death by her husband Fred (2014), parents John Rennie Odom (1973) and Mary Effie Odom (1983), and her siblings Vera, Rayford, Elwood, Hazel, Lamar, Jeanette, and Evelyn. She is survived by her children Cindy, Marty (Brandi), and Beth (Jeff). Her grandchildren Courtney, AJ (Brooke), Shelby, Lindsey (Bre), and Matthew (Allen), her great-grandchildren, and her siblings Margie and Melba, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Arlington Park Funeral Home located at 6920 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32211. The viewing will begin at 10a.m. with services and graveside following.
