IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Milton C.
Tookes
September 4, 1940 – May 17, 2025
Mr. Milton Calvin Tookes, affectionately known as "Bo", a devoted man of faith, family, and hard work, peacefully departed this life on May 17, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on September 4, 1940, in Oglethorpe, Georgia, he was the cherished son of the late Daniel Tookes and Ida May Harris(Tookes).
Milton lived a life rooted in service, strength, and love. He was a proud deacon at In the Ring with Christ Church, where he faithfully served and encouraged others through his spiritual leadership. A hardworking entrepreneur, Milton owned and operated Tookes Trucking LLC, fulfilling his lifelong passion for semi-trucks and the open road.
His talents extended beyond business—Milton was known for his incredible skills on the grill and loved spending time smoking meats and cooking for those he loved. Whether he was washing cars, working on vehicles in his tool shed, or simply watching old westerns like Gunsmoke and The Rifleman , Milton found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was also an avid viewer of the news and enjoyed lively discussions about politics.
Milton had a generous heart and was always willing to help others. He valued hard work, kindness, and honesty—principles he lived by and passed down to his family.
In 1977, Milton married the love of his life, Ms. Louise Tookes. Their loving union spanned nearly four decades until her peaceful passing in 2016. Their bond was one of deep commitment, laughter, and shared purpose.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Louise, five brothers, and three sisters.
He leaves behind a rich and loving legacy, including one daughter, Melissa Tookes; two sons, Terrence Tookes and Curtis Tookes; three step-sons, Dewayne Early (Barbara), Reginald Early, and Wendell Early (Latesa); one stepdaughter, Kimberly Portchus; three grandsons, Jartavius Thomas, Rodrick Davis, and Aaron Counts Jr.; four granddaughters, Andrea Tookes, Kayla Tookes, Monica Tookes, and Jaylen Early; five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Maliayah, Kennedi, Torrey, and Taylor; and five sisters, Bernice Sabb (Christopher), Ilene Tookes, Ardean Adams, Parthenia Johnson (Nathaniel), and Betty Sue Jones (Benny). He is also survived by a host of cousins, extended relatives, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Mr. Milton Calvin Tookes will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, worked tirelessly, and gave generously. His legacy of faith, family, and service will live on in all who knew and loved him.
