Deacon Moses Cuffy Jr. age 86 of Jacksonville FL. Passed away peacefully in his home on Monday August 6, 2018. Under the loving care of his family. He was born in Jacksonville FL. November 6, 1931 to the late Moses Sr. and Helen Douglas Cuffy of Jacksonville FL.
He was preceded in death by his brother Melvin Cuffy of Jacksonville FL , and his sisters Thelma Cuffy, Doreatha Mc Nair, Minnie Green, Brother-in-laws, Joe Lewis and Willie Mc Nair.
Deacon Cuffy was a faithful member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church for 86 years. He was a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School, Deacon and chairman of the Trustee Board. He helped build two churches and the sanctuary we are currently in all known as Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Old Stanton High School, after which he joined the United States Air Force in 1952-1956. He was honorably discharged and received the National Defense Service Medal and also the Good Conduct Medal. (We Thank Him For His Service).
Deacon Cuffy has many accomplishments. He was employed at Swisher Cigar Factory and The United States Postal Service, where he retired in 1987 after 32 years of service. He was the owner of Cuffy Short Order, Tiny Toons Daycare and had an upholstery and tailoring business. God blessed him with skillful hands. Moses was a jack of many trades. He was a member of the United States Postal Service golf club. He loved golfing, gardening, fishing, shrimping, traveling and family activities.
Deacon Cuffy departed this life on August 6, 2018. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Joyce of 14 years; Daughters: Angela Cuffy, Jacksonville FL., Sabrina (Roland) Gibson, Bradenton FL., Shanelle (Bruce) Jones; Son: Terry (Tara) Middleton; and Sister: Evelyn Lewis: In-Laws: Naomi (Roy) Nugent, Ernestine Adger, Barbara Govan, Toledo, OH., Lennie (Curtis ) Devin Colorado Springs, CO. Vikki Lisumbu, San Antonio TX., Ernest & Dana Tyler Toledo, OH.; Eleven Grandchildren: Kirwinn (Carmen) Mike, Alisha Mike and William Brewton, Brianna, Eric, Louis, Emma, Sarah, Aiden, Terrance and Tori.; One great-grandchild : Laila Mike and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and kind friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday August 11, 2018 at the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 3838 Saint Isabel Drive East, Jacksonville, FL. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL and one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday. Pastor Bruce Jones will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Arlington Park Cemetery, 6921 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, FL. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211
