IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Myrna Rosado
Díaz
September 28, 1938 – February 15, 2025
Myrna Díaz was born in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico on September 28, 1938. She passed away peacefully at the Taylor Care Center in Jacksonville, Florida on February 15, 2025.
When she was a child, toward the end of World War II, her family moved from Puerto Rico to New York City. As a teen, she came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized.
One Christmas, she went with her family to a gathering of Puerto Ricans and met her future husband George. Love bloomed, they were married soon after, and returned to Puerto Rico.
At the age of 19, Myrna answered the high calling of motherhood. The Lord blessed her and George with three girls followed by one boy. The children captured her undivided attention and brought her joy. She strove to make their home cozy, filled with the aroma of Christ and good food. All the children attended church soon after they were born and learned to sit quietly in pews, in a very small church without a nursery.
Myrna's additional hats as mother and wife included: nurse, referee, chauffeur, comforter, entertainer, and confidante.
George was transferred by the Navy to the Mayport Naval Base, Florida in 1975. They flew to Orlando, and after visiting Disney World for the first time the family began their new chapter in Jacksonville.
After her children were grown, she worked at a health food store on the west side of Jacksonville, dispensing recommendations on vitamin supplements.
Myrna loved to read and share books with others, especially Christian books. Her favorite book was the Bible, which she constantly underlined. She was a member of various congregations of the Body of Christ in the Jacksonville area.
In September 2017, her mother Virginia and sister Saida left Puerto Rico as Hurricane María was approaching the island. They moved into a condominium two doors down from Myrna. She would often show Virginia the family picture albums she had created and take her on walks, striking up conversations with neighbors. Saida would keep them all well fed.
In December 2021 she moved to Hall 300 at the Taylor Care Center. The dedicated staff of Taylor Care and the Community Hospice team took excellent care of her. Her family came alongside to keep her comfortable during these years, and is indebted to each individual from these organizations who ministered to Myrna.
She was preceded in death by her father, Antonio and grand-daughter Raechel and is survived by her mother Virginia Rosado; sister Saida; brother Antonio (Margie); children Alida Anderson (Dan), Anita Schirmer (Alberto), Carmen Walker (Randy) and Jorge (Jennifer); grandchildren Andrew "Ben" (Stephanie); Andrew (Cassidy), Javier, Ian, Catherine, Sarah, and Matthew; nieces Deborah Rosado and Marjorie Miguez (George); 5 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
Arlington Park Funeral Home on 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida is handling the arrangements. On Friday, February 28, 2024 the family will receive visitors from 10 to 11 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a private family graveside service.
