Myrtle Marie Gehrig, 91, passed away peacefully in her home on December 2, 2015. She was born on May 22,1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Otto and Matilda Woehr Hagdorn.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John, and her younger brother, George. She is survived by her daughters, Gail (Mike Kovach) and Joyce (Dave Schneider), her granddaughter, Katie, and her identical twin sister, Madeline.
Myrtle moved from Philadelphia to Jacksonville 51 years ago and resided in the same house all those years. She stayed active not only as a wonderful mother and later, as a grandmother, but also as a seamstress, a crafter, an avid gardener, and artist. Myrtle was a talented china painter and was a member of the Jacksonville Porcelain Artists. Her later years were enjoyed playing pinochle with her friends at the Senior Center.
Myrtle's priority was always to her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, but she was a kind, generous, and fun lady to all her friends. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 12 at 11:00 am in the Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel, 6920 Lone Star Road Jacksonville Fl 32211. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
