Nancy Ann DiSilvestro Surrency, 69, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on October 20, 2021.
The memorial service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Arlington Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211. Pastor Stephen Hogan of Chet's Creek Church will be officiating.
Nancy was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on April 11, 1952. She moved with her mother and stepfather to England where he served in the U.S. Air Force. There she graduated from Lakenheath High School. While attending high school in England, Nancy met her future husband whose father was also stationed there.
Nancy married David Surrency, Jr. on June 18, 1971, in Omaha, Nebraska. They later moved to Germany where David served in the U.S. Air Force. There she gave birth to their first child, Eric John Surrency. They relocated to Great Falls, Montana where David was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base. They settled in Jacksonville, Florida, where Nancy gave birth to their daughter Leigha Michelle Surrency and son Dean Charles Surrency. Nancy and David celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
Nancy was a vibrant woman, who dedicated her life to her family. She was involved in her children's various athletic and social endeavors, including baseball, football, soccer, wrestling, swim team and Boy Scouts among them. After raising her children, Nancy worked as Pharmacy Technician at Walmart for several years. Nancy's positivity and bubbly spirit always brought joy and brightness to those who knew and loved her.
Nancy is survived by her husband David Earl Surrency, Jr.; children, Eric Surrency (Paula), Leigha Myers and Dean Surrency (Devon) of Jacksonville, Florida; sisters Geraldine Morley (Jerry) of Antioch, CA, Kathryn Orr of Orlando, Florida; brothers John DiSilvestro of Newburgh, New York and Steven DiSilvestro of Wallkill, New York; stepsister Andrea Orr (Mark); sisters-in-law Stephanie Pickering (Nancy McGinnis), Jane Austin (Chris) and Amy Durance (Stacy); brother-in-law Marc Surrency (Greg Denton); grandchildren Ashleigh Surrency, Amelia Surrency, Jaden Myers and Lydia Surrency; uncle Nickolas DiSilvestro; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Nancy is preceded in death by her mother Mary Lou Orr; her father Gerard J. DiSilvestro; stepmother Shirley DiSilvestro; stepfather Lt. Col. Donald E. Orr; mother-in-law Nellie J. Surrency; father-in-law David Earl Surrency, Sr.; aunts Delores DiSilvestro and Constance Yambert; and uncle Joseph DiSilvestro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society ( NationalMSSociety.org ). The family of Nancy Surrency wishes to thank Community Hospice for their loving care and support.
