Nicolas Mitropoulos, 77, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on September 26th after a courageous and lengthy fight with multiple medical complications. He was born to Panayioti and Vasiliki Mitropoulos near Pyrgos, Greece and served in the Greek Army from 1967-68. In 1970, he married the love of his life, Dora Gikas, and in 1975, with their son, Taki, immigrated to America, settling in Skokie, IL. Nick was a dedicated electrician until his retirement to Jacksonville, FL. Never one to rest, he could always be found tinkering in his garage, working on a project at home or on one of the family's vehicles. He will always be remembered for the twinkle in his eye, the love of a good joke, and the deep and enduring love he showed his family and friends. Nick is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dora, son; Taki, sister; Fredericke, cousin; Paul and many loving nieces and nephews.

A service will be held in Nicolas's honor at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 3850 Atlantic Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207 on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 10 &.m. with interment at Arlington Park Cemetery.
