Obituary of Noble Enge

Noble Enge Jr. died December 24th of an extended illness. Noble was born February 23, 1020 in Jacksonville to the late Miriam Surrency Enge and Noble Enge and was raised in Arlington. He graduated from Landon High School. In 1954 he earned a degree from The University of Florida College Civil Engineering. While there he was an award-winning gymnast. Since 1982 Noble lived in Switzerland, Florida where he was a member of the Switzerland Community Church. Noble retired from The Corp of Engineers in Jacksonville. He was involved with Water Resources Planning. Prior to his illness Noble was writing a paper on the original flows of the Everglades drainage area. Noble was a member of many environmental organizations including Stewards of St. Johns River and the preservation of the Bartram Trail Historic Highway. Noble joined The Seminole Canoe Club, which was founded in the 1920's by his Uncle Joseph Enge. Noble was an award-winning lifelong canoeist and kayaker and windmill class sailor. Noble Enge will be remembered for his generosity of spirit and his concern for Florida rivers and lakes as well as flora and fauna of the region. Noble Enge is survived by his sisters Bess E. Stevens (Jack) of Birmingham, AL; Carol Enge Scott of Palm Coast, FL; and Katherine Enge Barket of Jacksonville; numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and several cousins. Funeral services will be held at the Arlington Park Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday the 29th.
