Norma Corene Koontz, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on May 1st 2026 at the age of 91. Norma was born on August 17, 1934, in Kissimmee, Florida. She was the daughter of Harry Israel Koontz Sr. and Cora Mae Koontz. Norma graduated from Winter Park High School in 1951. She worked at Taylor's Pharmacy for 2 years, where she met a handsome young sailor, Bobby Williams, who would become her lifelong love and companion. After marrying, they moved to Alma, Georgia, where Bob had grown up. While living in Alma, their two daughters, Virginia Lynn and Julia Ann, were born. In October of 1959, they moved to Jacksonville where Bob had several jobs, including the Jacksonville Electric Authority, from where he retired after 34 years. In addition, Norma assisted Bob with a thriving wedding photography business. He took the pictures and she did everything else. They were a great team!
Norma was a very social person. She enjoyed talking to and checking in regularly with family, friends, and neighbors. She didn't just talk. She showed her love and care for others, in her actions, in acts of service, and in her generosity, to a fault at times. Norma loved God and her family. Most nights, she would read her bible and several devotional books that she kept on her bed. She was an active member at Terry Parker Baptist church for as long as she was able. She enjoyed helping teach the four year old class and enjoyed organizing and helping to set up for many church functions.
Norma is survived by her two daughters, Virginia (David) Prior and Julia (Lonnie) Sullivan, her grandchildren Christina (Adam) Cagle, Devon (Danielle) Sullivan and Jessica Sullivan, as well as two great-grandchildren, Ronan and Blake Cagle and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Cora Mae Koontz Sr., her loving husband of 65 years, Robert Williams and all three of her siblings, Gerald Koontz, Harry Koontz Jr. and Ina Logsdon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Community Hospice of Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 6th at the Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211. Norma's family will be greeting guests beginning at noon. Burial will be in the Arlington Park Cemetery.
