Oliver Leon "Bay" Underwood, 98,  passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in Atlantic Beach, Florida.

He was born on Tuesday, August 7, 1923 in Soddy, Tennessee to Herschell Byrd Underwood and Comfort Knox Lonas; there were two sisters and three brothers. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps on November 13, 1942 and served in the China-Burma-India theater. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1945.

He married Ethel Renee Merritt on July 17, 1949 in Ringold, Georgia.

Oliver is survived by his wife of 72 years, Renee Underwood, his children; Sandra Shotton (Ed), Dr. Anthony Underwood, Teresa Druck (Norwood), William Underwood (Tinnette), Mark Underwood (Tonya), 13 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren, a sister, Betty Jean Sherrod (Howard).

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, William Hershell Underwood, James Lonas Underwood, Frances Louise Beene (Terry), Fredrick Howard Underwood.
