Obituary of Pansy Peters
Pansy Denise Osteen Peters, age 61, of Jacksonville, passed away May 6, 2015.
She was born to the late James Aldrich Osteen, Jr. and Frances Howell Osteen in Jacksonville, Florida. At the age of 7 she was adopted by her aunt and uncle Dorothy and Oliver Peters.
Denise graduated in 1972 from Paxon High School and from there entered the University of North Florida were she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Following that she taught for 36 years doing what she loved - teaching the children of Jacksonville at Biltmore, Finnegan, Ortega, Don Brewer, John Love and Lone Star Elementary schools.
Denise was a member of Kernan Blvd. Baptist Church where she assisted with the Children's Choir. She had a love for helping and cooking for various church and school functions. She had a benevolent heart for children in need.
Denise, as she was known, is survived by her sister Anita (Bobby) Barber, nephews Matthew Thornton and Jeffrey (Amber) Thornton, grand niece and nephew Ellie and Jaxon Thornton. She is also survived by her dearest friends and colleagues Sandra Pruitt, Avis Mathews and Pinochle.
A Visitation will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel and the Funeral Service will be held 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel 6920 Lone Star Road Jacksonville, FL. 32211 followed by a procession and interment, at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206.
Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be sent in her name to the Florida Baptist Children's Home, 1015 Sikes Blvd. Lakeland, Fl. 33815 or the Jacksonville Humane Society.
