Paul Barton Swan, 84, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on December 25, 2024, from complications from Alzheimer's, a disease that he struggled with for 15 years. Paul was born on May 26, 1940, in Moriah, New York, and was the son of the late Howard Swan and Rita Swan. His stepfather was the late Samuel Trapasso.
After graduating from Moriah High School, he moved to Jacksonville, FL and joined the Army Reserves. Paul attended the Jacksonville Plumbers and Pipefitters apprenticeship program for five years and was a member of the UA Local 234 Plumbers and Pipefitters for over 60 years. He worked for W. W. Gay Mechanical Contractor, Inc. for 30 years and ended his career there as the HVAC Service Manager. He later went on to serve as the Chief Engineer for the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena and Ballpark.
Paul is survived and missed by his loving wife Linda (Evans) of 64 years; and his daughters Sheri (Michael) Logan and Paula Portuondo. Forever cherished and remembered by his three granddaughters, Taylor Logan, Ashley Portuondo and Allyson Portuondo.
Paul is also survived by his brother Lari (Meg) Trapasso, nephews Michael (Paulette) Newton, Larry Newton and son Christopher, and many nieces and nephews from upstate New York.
Paul was an avid cat lover and always had plenty of them around him at home. His hobbies included flying ultra-lite planes, scuba diving, and attending car and plane shows. Paul loved spending time at the beach and enjoyed many vacations with his family in Sanibel Island, FL. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all of us.
