Obituary

Rajendranauth “Joey” Samaroo, age 49,passed away on April 18,2026, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born in Guyana and later making Jacksonville his home, Joey lived a life marked by deep love, resilience, and an unwavering faith in God.

Joey was a proud father to his sons Elijah and Joshua, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his wife Dionne, who stood by him through life’s challenges and victories. Joey leaves behind his siblings Navin, Tasha, and Moshmie, and his grandmother, Bibi Naimathali, who will forever hold his memory close.

Joey’s journey was not an easy one. He struggled with many obstacles life brought his way , but he fought hard and overcame it, a testament to his strength, his faith, and his determination to rise above. His story was one of redemption, courage, and transformation.

He was known for his warm smile, his humor, and his signature words: “One Love.” Those two words captured exactly who he was, someone who believed in unity, compassion, and the power of love to heal and connect us.

Joey loved to praise the Lord, and worship was one of the places where he found peace and purpose. He was also a devoted Bob Marley fan, often sharing music that reflected his spirit, his roots, and his message of love and resilience.

Joey was preceded in death by his parents, Father Basdeo Samaroo and Mother Seraphine Monzaline.

In his final years, Joey dedicated his life to doing what he loved. One of his greatest joys was his work at Chappell Schools at FSCJ North, where he took pride in serving and making a difference.

Joey’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family and friends, but his legacy lives on through the love he gave, the battles he won, and the faith he carried. His memory will continue to shine through his children, his family, and everyone who was blessed to know him.

One Love, always.
