Obituary of Ralph Butzirus

Ralph Russell Butzirus, 80, passed away on November 7, 2009. He is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Russ was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and was very involved with the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Knights of Columbus. He retired from General Motors after 36 years of faithful service. Russ is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Rita Higgins Butzirus and their daughter, Deborah Ann Butzirus. Survivors include his son, Rob (Kimberly) Butzirus; his daughter, Beckie (Brent) Munson; grandchildren, Lindsey (Cody) Allard, Kirsten N. Butzirus, Christopher A. Munson, Erin E. Munson, and Robbie Jo Butzirus and great grandchildren, Dominic and Vincent Allard.

A rosary will be held Friday, November 13, 2009 at 5:45 pm in the chapel of Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Rd. The family will greet friends afterward until 8:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211 with a reception immediately following in the church hall. In lieu of flowers his family requests donations be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at 742 Arlington Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32211 or the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida at 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 or online at www.communityhospice.com.
