IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Reba Starnes
Dill
January 21, 1928 – January 18, 2025
Reba Starnes Dill received her angel wings on January 18, 2025 while residing at Sunrise of Jacksonville. Reba was born January 21, 1928 in the Embreeville, TN community, the second daughter of Henry Clifton "Clee" Starnes and Florence Kemmer Starnes. She grew up in the Bumpus Cove, TN area and graduated from Lamar High School in 1945. She went on to attend East Tennessee State (then) College graduating in 1950 earning a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics. Reba then graduated from George Peabody College in Nashville, TN in 1956 earning a Master's Degree in Library Science. Reba married James Milton Dill, of Waycross, GA, in October, 1966 and resided in Jacksonville the remainder of her life.
She taught in several Florida schools retiring in 1988 with over 39 years in the education field. Reba was a member of Arlington Baptist Church where she attended regularly until her health began to fail.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Starnes Street in 2020 and niece, Melva Howell in 2023.
Reba was a quiet, but friendly and loving woman of faith. She enjoyed traveling and collecting antiques. Being very nostalgic, she was always eager to show her different collections of family history and memorabilia. She was loved by her friends and family and will be forever missed.
Left to remember her fondly are her nephew, Colonel (Retired) Preas Lewis Street, and niece, Theresa White, both of whom received Reba's encouragement and support in their own educational goals and careers. Also, surviving her are nephews Michael and Dean Hendrix. She was also loved by the family children and grandchildren. A special thanks to her friend, David Hall, and his wife, Kelly, for their treasured friendship. Reba enjoyed David's caring visits which also included a re-supply of ice cream. The family also thanks the management and staff of Sunrise of Jacksonville and Vitas Hospice for their caring and assistance.
A graveside service will be held at Arlington Park Cemetery at 2:30pm on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025.
Rest in peace, Dear Aunt. We love you!
