Richard Houchin passed away peacefully on June 5, 2023 after a short illness. He was born in Stuart, Nebraska on June 9, 1940.

Richard was a greyhound kennel owner, breeder and trainer. He was a well-respected member of the National Greyhound Association as well as being President of the Greyhound Owners Association in Jacksonville Florida. He was instrumental in helping to achieve legislation benefiting the greyhound industry. He was one of the original supporters of greyhound adoption in Jacksonville Florida and served on the board of directors of Greyhounds as Pets of Northeast Florida. Richard was instrumental in bringing the Children's Miracle Network to Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville.

Richard's other passion was restoring custom cars and trucks where he won many awards at local car shows.

Richard is survived by his wife Jill, his step-son's Cordie Morgan IV (Julia), Charles Morgan (Elaine) and his grandchildren, Austin, Emily and Mackenzie.

In remembrance of Richard's life, the family ask that any charitable donations be made to the Greyhound Hall of Fame at 407 South Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
