Obituary of Richard Marty

Richard E. (Dick) Marty, 77, passed away peacefully in Jacksonville, FL on April 8, 2012 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Madison, WI on February 15, 1935 to the late Albert and Argevena (Grove) Marty. He graduated from East High School in Madison, WI in 1953. After submarine service with the U.S. Navy, he continued his service to the Navy as an electronics technician with RCA, Ratheon, and several other electronic contractors. His favorite pastime was building and flying radio controlled model airplanes, a hobby which began in his early childhood and continued throughout his entire life. He took pride in his skills with this hobby as well as his ability to fix almost anything. He was a member of Gateway RC Club. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Anthony Marty; daughter Linda (Mike) Pratt of Watauga, TX; son Steven (Stephanie) Marty of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Rebecca and Cameron Pratt; brother, Mathew Marty (Kathy Wiggins) of Madison, WI and sister, Margaret Krueger of Berlin, WI. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter and Edward Marty; infant sister, Ruth Marty. A memorial service will be held at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 11:00am. Family will receive visitors one hour before the service. Inurnment at Jacksonville National Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Community Hospice Foundation / McGraw Center for Caring.
