Obituary of Richard Salter

Richard McNeil Salter, 63, of Jacksonville passed away on October 16, 2011. He died Sunday after a long battle with cancer. A natuive of Jacksonville , Richard graduated from Terry Parker High School and Jacksonville University . He married Ada Ruth Crawley and served in the Army National Guard for the next six years. He worked with mentally disabled adults for Volunteers of America and later as a claims investigator for Citibank. He served as a minister of Music for 27 years at several local churches. He was an avid golfer and loved to take his family on trips to Disney World. He is predeceased by his father, Richard Gaston Salter. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Crawley Salter; his mother, Alice Salter; his brother, John Salter; his children, Stephanie Colsant and John Salter; and his grandchildren, Joseph Colsant, Caleb Salter, Evan Colsant, Andrew Salter, and Kelsie Salter. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Florida Community Hospice for their care and compassion. Funeral services will be held at Terry Parker Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 19, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Coastal Baptist Church .
