Obituary of Richard Steeves

Richard E. Steeves Sr., 99, passed away on June 28, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on December 27, 1915 to Willliam and Zella Steeves in Portsmouth, Ontario. His parents and two older brothers moved to Florida just after WWI. Landon High School was his alma mater, class of 1934. He was married to Majorie Adera Hull from1936 until her death in 2003. Richard obtained the charter for Boy Scout Troop 161, was that Troops' first leader and participated in the activities of that Troop for many years. Richard worked for AT&T, retiring after more than 37 years of service. His retirement years were filled with travel, golf, bowling, caring for his home of 69 years in Jacksonville, and his home in the mountains of North Carolina. He was also active in the Old Arlington, Inc., contributing years of first-hand historical information. He leaves behind 3 children, Malcolm Steeves of Bay Minette, AL, Gail Bragg of Silver Spring, MD, and Kenneth Steeves of Apopka, FL, and their spouses, Vaughn Millner, Gerry Bragg, and Rose Steeves. His son Richard Steeves, Jr., died in 2012 at 73. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and numerous great and great, great grandchildren.
