Obituary of Robert Deckert

Robert Bob James Deckert, Sr., 76, passed away November 1, 2007. Born November 8, 1930 in Washington, D.C. to William J. and Mary LaBille Deckert, he proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Air Force where he received honors and was awarded the Purple Heart. Bob retired from the automobile business as a General/ Service Manager for various dealerships in the Jacksonville area. He was also a member, Eucharistic Minister and Usher of Christ the King Catholic Church for the past 50 years, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Jacksonville Garden Club.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia Patty Deckert; children, Geralyn Gerri Stewart of Franklin, TN, Robert Bobby Deckert, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Warner Robins, GA, and Tina Parker and her husband Scott of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer and Melissa Deckert, Hunter Stewart, Mitchell and Zackary Parker.

The family will greet friends at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road on Sunday evening from 6-8:00pm. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 5, 2007 at 12:00pm at Christ the King Catholic Church with interment immediately following in Arlington Park Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to either the Christ the King Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
