IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Kenneth
Harmer
September 25, 1950 – July 21, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, Opa, and friend, Robert Harmer (Gator Bob), who passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully in his sleep on July 21, 2025 at the age of 74.
Born on September 25th, in Charleston, SC Gator Bob lived a life defined by quiet strength, deep compassion, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He was the kind of man whose presence made the room feel steadier, warmer. Whether he was offering wise advice, lending a hand without being asked, or simply sitting beside you in companionable silence, he made everyone feel seen, heard, and loved.
He married the love of his life, Marilyn, 43 years ago, but have been together for 52 years. Together they built a home filled with laughter, love, and enduring memories. He was a proud and devoted father to Katrina (Robby) and Kristen and a joyful Opa to Ace. To his family, he was a steady anchor, a gentle teacher, and a source of boundless patience and love.
Gator Bob was obsessed with the Florida Gators football program. He started going to Gator football games with his father in the 70's. A tradition that continued throughout his life. Gator Bob was a project man; he kept checking things off his honey do list as well as projects at both of his daughter's houses (especially the unexpected projects). If Gator Bob wasn't at a football game or doing a project, he was often on the golf course, basketball court, or reading a SciFi book. Gator Bob loved to cruise with Marilyn, especially those trips that got him to Amsterdam (homeland to his mother-in-law). Those lucky enough to know him will remember his easy smile and his uncanny ability to make others feel at peace.
His sudden departure has left a hole in our hearts, but we find comfort in knowing that he left this world as he lived in it — peacefully.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; daughters, Katrina (Robby) and Kristen; his grandchild, Ace; his siblings, Bill, (Clara), Barry (Judy), Patti (Tim), David (Debby), Lee (Renee), Brian (Gina); sisters and brothers in law, Greg (Belinda), Leslie (Jimmy), Nadine, Reni, Melody (Matt) and his pal Z along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday July 25, 2025, at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road Jacksonville, FL 32211 from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a memory and/or picture/video via email to gatorbobharmer@gmail.com. And if you plan to attend the services, please wear orange and blue in honor of Gator Bob!
He will be missed beyond words and remembered always with love.
