Robert “Bob” Hyer, 93, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026.
Born June 18, 1932, in Coleta, Illinois, Bob lived a long and meaningful life defined by service, dedication, and love of family.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War and continued his commitment through more than 30 years in the United States Navy Reserves. Bob went on to build a long career as an aviation mechanic at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. Known for his skill, strong work ethic, and outdoor abilities, he earned the respect and admiration of all.
He was a devoted husband, married for 70 years to his beloved wife, Carolyn Hyer. Together, they built a strong and loving family.
Bob is survived by his children, Karen Williams, Mike Hyer, and Rick Hyer. He was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Bob will be remembered for his quiet strength, steadfast character, and lifelong dedication to his country and his family. His legacy of service and love will live on in all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on May 2 at 2:30 PM at Arlington Funeral Home. A reception will follow from 3:30 to 5:30 PM; location to be announced.
Bob will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
